13 Eco-friendly, Sustainable Shops that Carry Zero-Waste Products in Prince Edward Island (PEI) Map+ Infographic
I made a list of the most known and mentioned local eco-friendly shops in Prince Edward Island. The list is based on Islanders’ recommendations. Last week I asked you guys where I can find eco-friendly, chemical-free shampoo bars, conditioner bars, and soap in general — and you answered with a wealth of experience and knowledge! I added a few other suggestions I got from my Instagram friends related to beauty products. I am so grateful to be a part of such an engaged supportive community. Here are the top twelve local sellers and brands that have been recommended to me, all in one place to share with you!
Most of these products are made right here in PEI, with natural ingredients and most of the businesses are run by women! How cool is that?

Have you wondered “ can I buy sustainable makeup in PEI?” Yes, you can, thanks to Urban Daisy Boutique.
I follow Jacqueline on Instagram and I just love how much she cares about sustainable and eco-friendly beauty products. She brought Elate products to PEI. If you want to learn about sustainable beauty products, go check her Instagram. I am already a loyal customer but I actually do not buy too often because I like finishing the things I buy :D.
She is my to go for moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation, and eye shadow.

The shop is small but mighty and run by a new mama Alyssa Johnston. Her products are so loved on the Island that every time I decide to buy something, it is sold out. She is taking a short break from her site to focus on motherhood, but other local shops have been recently stocked and she will be back in the summer with a new batch! This shop is run by Story Sheidow, a chartered Herbalist and Certified Natural Products Advisor by trade. Townes Herbals’ products are created small-batch skincare products with no preservatives made from all-natural ingredients in rural Prince Edward Island.

The store is owned by a family in PEI who maintain a small happy herd of Alpine dairy goats! Their goats live a stress-free lifestyle, coming and going from the barn and field as they please. They make handcrafted soaps from goat milk, as well as a variety of other quality products online and wholesale.

This is a local company in PEI and makes many, many organic and natural products. They have a retail store in Brackley Beach open 7 days a week but be sure to check their website for up-to-date information.

This company has grown into one of the largest producers of handcrafted soap in Eastern Canada, with over 30,000 hand-cut bars crafted in their studio every year! Founded with a strong commitment to using quality, natural ingredients, Jennifer and her team create small-batch lines of herbal skincare, haircare, baby care, natural dog care, and a great selection of wonderful treats for bath and body.

This farmer’s market fave was recommended by so many! All of their handcrafted goat milk soaps are infused with Irish moss, pure essential oils, and are polished and packaged by hand.

This line of body care items comes from Agropreneurs Charles and Laura Lipnicki. Their farm, "La Serena Farm" tries to echo the harmony found in nature as a paradise for the wildlife, livestock, honey bees, and orchards that call it home. Their product ingredients are local and climate-friendly.

This artisan family soap brand is run by Nova MacIsaac — a mother to four grown children, and a grandma to four little ones! Nova has a love for creating and playing with colour. Her passion for traditional soap making developed after enjoying many other artisanal bars. Black Rafter’s organic, well-researched products are rated 5 stars and are available for purchase on Etsy.

Lesley is the founder of this business and a literal dairy farmer’s wife! She started pouring soy candles over 20 years ago and has since added soy soaps, body bars, and old-fashioned liquid hand soaps to her shop. Lesley has products specifically suited for those who suffer from commercial product irritants as well!

Definitely one of my favorite stores! They have pretty much everything that you need to get started on your sustainable journey. From bulk cleaning products to soaps and toothbrushes.

PS: as this April 1st, 2021, M VRAC allows bringing your own containers. They have a container section where you can weigh your jars. How awesome is that?

It goes without saying that this is heaven for bulk food. I am not sure if this should be here because it is not locally owned — but it is a store with a convenient location that offers low to no waste essentials. They sell bulk grains, nuts, baking items, candies, teas, and all kinds of beans. They also sell nut butter and soap that comes without packaging.
I liked it a lot when I could bring my own jars but now that the pandemic hit, they use plastic bags with recyclable symbol number 4 (LDPE - Low-density Polyethylene) that can be recycled in PEI. I try to reuse them around the house before tossing them.
