What Type of Zero Waster Are You? [QUIZ + INFOGRAPHIC]

I have absolutely loved the opportunity to get to know so many other low waste advocates with this blog. While we might all be on track to accomplish the same things (create less waste, live more sustainably, and better care for our planet) there are so many different strategies in how to get there! Depending on where you live, your budget, lifestyle, and how much of a do-it-yourself kind of person you are, the way you reach a low waste lifestyle may look completely different than others in your community. I have preached it before and I will preach it again — zero waste does not have to be expensive. I think it is really important to combat the stigma surrounding accessibility and the zero waste community. With that being said…

After asking you all a bunch of questions on my Instagram I realized that there are many types of going zero waste and being sustainable. I identified five categories: “The Budget Focus Babe”, “The Mindful Minimalist”, The Shopping Queen/King Turned Green, The Thoughtful Eco Consumer, and The Plant Warrior.

This quiz is meant to be a fun way to determine which strategy might work best for you. If you are already on your journey, comment below this post to tell me if your results reflect your lifestyle!

If you scored 1-5

Type A: The Budget Focused Babe

Why spend when you can save? Your friends and family might call you a super saver. You use what you have and you use it well. You are very mindful of new purchases and tend to look for solutions around you before dropping money on something new. You might have a stockpile of glass jars or a closet shelf dedicated to “just in case” leftovers from past purchases to avoid buying new things. You tend to enjoy DIY projects and repurposing items around you.

If you scored 6-10

Type B: The Mindful Minimalist

You could be a minimalist already, but if not you are drawn to a simpler life with less stuff. You are open to making some purchases to help you live more sustainably over time. You are interested in learning practical ways to minimize your waste with the help of reusable products that suit your everyday needs. You are all about making sustainable living work for you.

If you scored 11-15

Type C: The Shopping Queen (or King) turned Green

Before learning about your environmental impact you loved to shop. Let’s be honest, you still do! You likely follow aesthetically pleasing green advocacy pages and aim to achieve a zero-waste lifestyle in style. You are always on the lookout for the newest sustainable gadget, low waste makeup brand, or ethical labor carbon-neutral clothing brand to support. You are not shy of showing support for the brands you love and don’t let being green prevent you from treating yourself.

If you scored 16-20

Type D: The Thoughtful Eco Consumer

You are all about educated spending. You rather spend $1,500 on a handmade wood coffee table to support an ethical local small business than spend a single dime at Ikea. You are far from an impulsive spender and tend to spend lots of time researching before making a purchase. You take care of the things you own because you work hard to get them. You are very knowledgeable about the supply chain and know-how to ask the right questions in order to make informed decisions.

If you scored 21-25

Type E: The Planet Warrior

You take environmental support to the next level! The way you live is reflective of your love for our planet and self-focused environmental goals. If you aren’t already, you may dream about living off the grid in a sustainable tiny home. You take zero waste to the whole next level by not only minimizing impact in your own life but by trying to compensate for others by living super sustainably.
