10 Eco-friendly Toothpaste Options for Canadians

Did you know that there are around 1 billion toothpaste tubes sent to landfills every year? Zero waste should make you smile… and not at the expense of wasteful tubes of toothpaste.

There are a lot of different materials in toothpaste tubes, including plastic, aluminum, steel, nylon, and even copper. It's not possible to recycle toothpaste tubes unless they're processed separately which is a pretty complicated process. By making toothpaste at home or buying brands with recyclable packaging, you're reducing landfill waste, and saving a ton of water and energy.

That being said, I have gone on a journey this year trying out different low to no waste options to see which ones I like best. I’m sharing a list of 10 eco-friendly options to keep your breath smelling fresh and teeth sparkling here in Canada. Keep reading to find a zero waste swap that is best for you!

To use the powder, they instruct you to simply wet your toothbrush and dip it into the powder to turn it into a wet paste. I’m not to sure about redipping my toothbrush in the same container over and over again, but perhaps you like this option better than the tabs!

David’s toothpaste is a pretty well known in the zero waste community as a great alternative that is pretty similar to conventional drug store toothpaste.
